We are Dani and Mariano, the founders of Freak Flops, a brand born from our desire to start a new life in Costa Rica. It was inevitable: after a short vacation in the country, we fell in love with the pace of life here, its abundant nature, and the tranquility of its people. In 2014, we left São Paulo to start from scratch.

From the beginning, we dreamed of building something that reflected everything that inspired us about this place. We wanted to combine our creativity with quality products that people could use every day, but that also carried a little piece of this magical land with them. That's how Freak Flops was born.

I, Dani, am the designer behind every print. My love for art found its cradle in this brand. I was amazed by the colors and shapes of Costa Rican nature. I fell in love with the traditional art here. Everywhere you look, there are beautiful and inspiring things happening around us. The need to create attractive and unique designs for Freak Flops has led me on an intense journey through my artistic discoveries over the 10 years I've been drawing.

Mariano, my life partner and the other creative and unstoppable mind behind this brand, brings the practical balance and business acumen that has allowed us to grow and stay true to our values. In other lives, Mariano was the director of photography for countless audiovisual projects, and thanks to his artistic skills, Freak Flops boasts beautiful photographic material and high-quality videos. That's all. homemade and for us.

For over a decade, Freak Flops has been more than just a business to us. It's our way of life, what we do every day, what keeps us together and allows us to share a unique experience as a couple in a foreign country that, after so many years, has become our home. We are proud to work with local artisans and contribute our small part to the economic development of our community. Every product we offer is handmade with love, designed for those who value quality, exclusivity, and a connection to something bigger.

Mariano is in charge of the production of our iconic sandals, but his talent and versatility extend far beyond that. He's our content creator, acting as photographer, videographer, as well as our salesperson, public relations representative, translator, driver, president, and much more!

Dani, for her part, is the creative mind behind all our unique and original designs. She also handles customer service, social media management, shipping, and website administration.
